5 PM Tuesdays at Great Mills High School (GMHS) starting May 26th5 PM Sundays at Leonardtown High School (LHS) starting May 31st Play is held twice weekly, and consists of informal doubles matches put together by the site coordinator based on that day's attendance. All who show up will get to play.
The league fee is $30 for the GMHS site, which runs through September, and $25 for the LHS site, which runs through August. All fees include court costs and balls. No official registration is required. Just show up at the courts and enjoy the evening. |

St. Mary’s County Tennis Assoc. (SMCTA) 2009 USTA Jr. Team TennisSt. Mary’s County Tennis Association in cooperation with St. Mary’s County Recreation, Parks & CSWhat?: - Weekly matches- Monday and Wednesday evenings 5:30 - 8:00pm
- Co-ed teams made up of 3-5 boys and 3-5 girls.
- 12 & Under Beginner/Intermediate and 18 & Under Intermediate/Advanced Divisions
Where?: - Matches to be played at Dorsey Park and Town Creek Park
- Auxiliary sites at Baggett Park, Laurel Grove, Chancellor’s Run Regional Park, and Cecil Park (in Valley Lee).
When?: - Summer Season – May 27 to July8
- winning teams will advance to Maryland playoffs: at McDonough HS - July 18-19, 2009
How:? STEPS to participate: - Participants must be current members of USTA. Parents should go to www.USTA.com and click on membership to join ($18 for individuals 18 years old and younger).
- Complete and return (to Don Behrens, contact info below) the Info, Release and Waiver form.
- A parent is required to attend with their child on May 27.
- A league fee of approximately $32 will be collected to cover cost of USTA league management, balls, team t-shirts and end of season awards. This league fee is also paid online at the USTA website, more information on this will be provided at registration.
- Managers will be asked to make lineups and schedule practice dates and times.

The SMAC tennis tourney is underway. Scheduled to start yesterday (which was rained out) all matches have been pushed back a day, with the semi-finals and finals scheduled to be played this Saturday. All matches are being played at North Point High. I have uploaded the original match schedule and the tournament bracket (in excel format) to our downloads section. You can check them out here! |

Getting Little Kids into the Game: Quince Orchard to Host the First USTA Maryland QuickStart Tennis Tournament Just for fun and no experience required …
On April 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Quince Orchard Swim and Tennis Club in Gaithersburg will host the first USTA Maryland-sponsored Quick Start Tennis tournament for kids ages 8 and under and 9-10. Matches in the 8U division will be played on 36' courts using foam balls, 21” and 23” racquets, adjusted nets, and modified scoring; kids in the 9-10 year-old division will play on 60’ courts using low-compression balls. This is a non-elimination tournament and all kids will get to play multiple matches.
